5 trends we can't wait to try when the lockdown is over

Fashion has evolved drastically during the pandemic. People have realised the importance of sustainability and recycling which has made them even more fashion conscious. The lockdown has also made celebrities who have always stayed high on glamour take the non-glamourous route but keep it stylish nonetheless.

Divas have transformed casual wear to look trendy and fancy when heading out of their homes for a grocery run or visiting the pets’ clinic. We’ve seen some unique spotting this time around as designers, trends and ensembles that were are at one time are making recurring appearances in B-town in casual wear.

Some quick new accessories have also made their way to the wardrobes, starting from a chain for your masks to handy bags that can carry the bare minimum and remain functional. What started with designer mask last year has evolved into a bling-fil, jazzy accessory over the last few months and needless to say, we are compleyelu on board with this one. It's safe and stylish

Listing down trends that are either making a comeback or blazing a trail, here are 5 trends we saw in the lockdown that we cannot wait to try when allowed to step out. Take a look.

Clutter de Flora

Florals prints are an evergreen trend. Floral prints have an eternal place in the world of fashion but even they have gone through a fair share of evolution over the years. We saw them make it to the couture runway in 2010 and ever since, they have spawned to take over every piece of clothing, be it dresses, jackets or even shoes. While a mix and match of decorative flowers was the start of this trend, we've sighted cluster floral prints aggressively in the last few months. They instantly draw attention and are a favorite in the summer collections of many designer brands. These aren’t making a comeback really because they never went out of style, but the evolution in design has been quite an impressive one as colours and patterns have no limit to experimentation anymore. You can go all out contrast or clutter up the flowers to make a a statement. This trend also takes print on print to another level as you can experiment with different floral designs for an ensemble.

Tie-Dye Renaissance

One of the trippiest trends on the block, tie and dye is making a comeback ever since the lockdown started and we are not going to complain. Big in the ’70, this psychedelic print is something we’ve all tried once as a DIY at home and it’s also made several appearances at the runway over the past couple of years. So many colours and combinations to play with and several patterns to choose from, tie and dye looks easy, but the thought and effort that goes into getting these beautiful pieces ready is nothing but art. What we started doing as an art project in school can help you transform your regular casual wear into funky ensembles. All you need is some colourful die, hair ties and water. It’s a simple yet effective way approved by B-town divas. So, add some colour to your wardrobe, lovelies!

Quirk box

A fancy bag never hurt nobody. Bags aren’t just about carrying your things around. They are now taking the burden of making a simple outfit look like a million bucks too. You can throw on a simple dress or a t-shirt with jeans and top it with a quirky handbag to elevate it thousand fold. From unusual sizes, as small as a bag word around the wrist to duffle bags that have pop-art references on it, we’ve seen B-town fashionistas carry ‘em all and how. So what may seem like a low on functionality investment is high on style quotient. But that’s not all, while you can’t carry your world around, this does come handy when you just need some cash, a hand sanitiser and a cell phone to carry with you.

Five Trends

Trenched!

Overcoats are magical pieces that transform outfits. The pandemic has made us dive into the casual wear section of our wardrobes. We can’t help but stay in comfy sweat suits and pyjamas but when duty calls, the situation has also taught us how to transform these into impeccable party wear. One piece of clothing that’s doing the trick for us ladies is a classic trench coat. You can just let it hang off your shoulders or belt it over athleisure and you’ve got yourself an ensemble ready for the outside world. We’ve spotted this trend more than ever before in B-town. Make casual sports wear look super chic and ready for the go, divas have been resorting to overcoats and trenches to make a style statement. You don’t need a lot of planning for this one. Any simple outfit, as comfortable as your jammies that you go to bed in can be paired with a chic overcoat to make it perfect for the outside world.

How’s it hangin’?

Masks are evolving with a new additional accessory. We were only getting accustomed to the custom designer face-masks when a functional addition was made in this mandatory accessory. An attached chain is one of the most useful and trendy introductions to the pandemic wardrobe and if you look around, it’s everywhere now. Not only does it add a little bling and colour to your outfit, but also comes in handy when you have to remove your mask (only when necessary) in public. Dancing around your neck, it's an unfortunate yet necessary replacement for jewellery. While hopefully someday we will swing our masks up in the air like we do during graduation to celebrate the victory against COVID-19, but till then, even if you’re vaccinated, keep those masks on. So her yourself a pretty cotton mask, wear on top a surgical mask because double making is important and chain it up to keep it safe and add some pizzazz to your look.
