Three of Us is a poignant tale of self-discovery, patience and a promise to always remember your roots. The essence of memory forms the crux of this film as Shailaja (Shefali Shah) who suffers from dementia, returns to Vengurla where she spent four years and meets her childhood friends. Jaideep Ahlawat essayed the role of Pradeep who was her childhood sweetheart, a man who expresses his emotions through exquisite poetry, robust on the outside but soft on the inside and would accept anything that Shailaja says for old time's sake.

Manoj Bajpayee played the protagonist in this film and it is about tackling violence in the name of development. Dasru (Manoj Bajpayee) is a Naxalite who flees from his village in Jharkhand and struggles to make ends meet as a construction worker in Mumbai. He crosses paths with a woman from his village and that’s when he’s hit by another wave of violence. He puts up a convincing portrayal of a man who has to combat eternal suffering and hopelessness as a father of an infant daughter who seeks a little respite.

Appalled and angered at how the whole system is corrupted, Kanti who is also a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva decides to fight his son’s case at court. The story revolves around the importance of sex education and Pankaj Tripathi brings his character of a concerned and loving father to life like no other.

Rajkummar Rao plays the role of a police officer Surya who is given the responsibility of calling for a roadblock but his sense of inferiority complex as a member of a lower caste stops him from calling the actions. As the reality of that phase comes to life Rajkummar Rao’s character finds himself surrounded by utter hopelessness as he is attacked by political threats, sobbing families and lack of facilities. His character forms one of the main talking points of the film on how your caste can’t decide the importance of your survival.
